Baseball Recap: Skyview Wins Going Away Against Thornton

Skyview barely beat Thornton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines blew past the Trojans 16-1 on Thursday. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Joseph Trujillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Skyview is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 0-7 otherwise. Trujillo was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Skyview let Carlos Carrillo and Marcelo Navarro run wild. Carrillo scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Navarro scored a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most runs Carrillo has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marcus Archuleta, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Skyview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Skyview picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Thornton, their defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Skyview will challenge Mountain Range at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Thornton, they will square off against Overland at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
