Baseball Recap: Loudon Gets the Win

Loudon got themselves on the board against Lenoir City on Friday, but Lenoir City never followed suit. They skirted past the Panthers 2-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2024, but that streak is no more.

The result came thanks to Boston Montooth's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Loudon is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 11-15 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Eli Kelso, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Loudon: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-15 otherwise.

Loudon's record is now 13-16. As for Lenoir City, their loss dropped their record down to 9-21.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Loudon will face off against Heritage at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Redskins' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mountaineers have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Lenoir City, they will challenge William Blount at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
