Basketball Recap: Madison Comes Up Short

Madison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 59-20 loss at the hands of the Central City Bison. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Dragons of the 51-23 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Central City's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hope Paup led the charge by going 8 of 14 en route to 19 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks. Those 19 points gave Paup a new career-high. Sydni Homolka was another key player, putting up 15 points and eight boards.

Madison's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Central City, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season.

Madison didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 35-33 defeat against Lyons-Decatur Northeast on the 28th. As for Central City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 56-33 win against David City on the 30th.
