Football Game Preview: Pflugerville Panthers vs. Crockett Cougars

The Pflugerville Panthers will challenge the Crockett Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Pflugerville is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Liberty Hill just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Friday. They were beaten by Liberty Hill 70-23.

The losing side was boosted by Cole Taylor, who threw for 230 yards and three TDs. He has been hot, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Crockett faced off against Elgin on Thursday. The Cougars were outmatched by the Wildcats and fell 70-26.

Pflugerville will need to focus on slowing down Roger Chargois, one of several Crockett players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 96 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Chargois' longest rush was for an impressive 55 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. The team also got some help courtesy of Peter Cobos, who rushed for 160 yards while picking up 9.4 yards per carry.

Pflugerville's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for Crockett, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
