Baseball Game Preview: Anderson Cubs vs. West Valley Eagles

Anderson is 0-10 against West Valley since May of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Cubs will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Anderson has given up an average of 10.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Anderson is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their sixth straight game last Friday. They lost 13-2 to Lassen.

Anderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daimon Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those RBI marked the first that Pierce has brought in this season.

Meanwhile, West Valley came tearing into Wednesday's match with ten straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They didn't even let the Hornets on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. Give the Eagles' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Jayden Knight tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Degan Palos, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Manny Sleezer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enterprise only managed one hit.

Anderson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for West Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 13-3.

Anderson suffered a grim 9-1 defeat to West Valley in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
