Alden and East Aurora are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Bulldogs will welcome the Blue Devils at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Alden barely beat Holland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bulldogs blew past the Dutchmen 24-5 on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Brody Peresan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off nine hits. Peresan was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Josh Kruk was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Steven Syracuse, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI.
Alden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, East Aurora had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. Everything went their way against the Golden Eagles as they made off with a 15-1 win.
Like Alden, East Aurora also got a great game from a two-way player: Ben Wright. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Wright also tossed no walks, which is notable because East Aurora is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise. Wright was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ross Rozanski, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. East Aurora is undefeated when Rozanski posts three or more hits, but 3-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Catenzaro, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one double.
Alden is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for East Aurora, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Alden has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like East Aurora struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alden took their victory against East Aurora in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 16-4 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
