Basketball Recap: Boardman Spartans vs. Harding Raiders
The Boardman Spartans waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They secured a 47-41 W over Harding. Given Boardman's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Raiders are ranked 253rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Boardman's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mackenzie Riccitelli, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Riccitelli hasn't dropped below three steals for four straight games. Samantha Duble was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Boardman has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Harding, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Boardman will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Harding, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Cardinals at 2:30 p.m. on February 3rd.
