Volleyball Recap: New Albany Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

New Albany unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the Watkins Memorial Warriors on Wednesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

New Albany couldn't get the W, but boy did they fight for it: two sets took extra rallies. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 24-26, 28-26, 27-25.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aline Bhat, who had 22 digs and ten assists. Bhat has been hot, having posted 15 or more digs the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jillian Welsh, who had ten digs and three aces.

The win got Watkins Memorial back to even at 1-1.

New Albany has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against Thomas Worthington on the 21st. As for Watkins Memorial, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against Zanesville on the 21st.
