Baseball Game Preview: South Spencer Rebels vs. Northeast Dubois Jeeps

The South Spencer Rebels are taking a road trip to take on the Northeast Dubois Jeeps at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. South Spencer will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

South Spencer took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Wood Memorial 11-1.

South Spencer got a great performance from Traven Mongold as he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave Mongold a new career-high.

At the plate, Ty Mattingly was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Beau Heck also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

South Spencer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wood Memorial only posted a batting average of .000.

Meanwhile, Northeast Dubois had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.9 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over the Patriots.

Brycen Mroz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Aidan Sheetz was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.

Northeast Dubois' win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for South Spencer, their record is now 8-9.
