Basketball Recap: Niwot Skates Past Skyline with Ease

Niwot won the last time they faced Skyline and things went their way on Friday too. The Niwot Cougars blew past the Skyline Falcons 57-27. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Thalia Almaraz continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine blocks. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexis Austefjord, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Niwot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Niwot's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 9-4. As for Skyline, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Niwot wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-52 defeat against Cheyenne Mountain on the 18th. As for Skyline, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 59-30 loss against Greeley Central on the 18th.
