Soccer Game Preview: Sapulpa vs. Union

Sapulpa is 0-5 against Union since April of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Chieftains will head out to face off against the Redhawks at 7:00 p.m. This will be Sapulpa's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.

Sapulpa came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 8-1 to Edison. While losing is never fun, Sapulpa can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma soccer rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while Edison are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Union waltzed into their match two weeks ago with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Raptors. That's two games straight that Union have won by just one goal.

Sapulpa's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Union, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.

Sapulpa came up short against Union in their previous meeting back in April of 2019, falling 2-0. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
