Basketball Recap: West Valley Falls Despite Big Games from Jordan Heacock and Zack Boemeke

West Valley lost against University Prep back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The West Valley Eagles fell to the University Prep Panthers 55-50. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Zack Boemeke and Jordan Heacock certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Boemeke posted 13 points and seven rebounds, while Heacock earned 12 points and seven boards. Boemeke is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played.

University Prep found their leader in sophomore Trey Pringle, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine steals. Another player making a difference was Adam Gire, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

West Valley's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 13-9. As for University Prep, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Valley will take on Enterprise at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. West Valley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.3 points per game this season. As for University Prep, they will challenge Pleasant Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in University Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests.
