Game recap: Forest High School Football Team takes down Morton

MORTON, Miss. - Forest (Miss.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as Trenton Evers kicked a field goal with with 11:00 left in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over Morton (Miss.) 44-13.

The Bearcats were up 16-13 at the half after taking the lead on a field goal by Evers in the second quarter.

Forest expanded its lead to 17 points entering the fourth quarter. FHS scored two times in the third, including once on a Luke Reynolds touchdown pass to Dentavious Lockett.

The Bearcats secured its victory by scoring 14 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 31.

Forest's standout player in the win was Lockett. The junior wide receiver caught one touchdown. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.

Matthew Creel played well for the Panthers. The freshman wingback threw one touchdown.



FHS came in allowing an average of 26.7 points per game this season. The Bearcats held firm on the defensive front, and kept Morton well below the 29.6 points it had been averaging per game.

When the two teams played each other last season, Forest came away with a 52-6 victory.

The defeat comes as a step back for Morton, which notched a 45-13 victory over Raleigh in its previous outing. The loss snapped MHS's 2-game winning streak.
