Evan Lucas leads a balanced attack to beat Bentley

Recap: Athenian Owls vs. Bentley Phoenix

The Athenian Owls entered their tilt with the Bentley Phoenix with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Athenian enjoyed a cozy 64-45 win over the Phoenix on Tuesday. Given Athenian's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Phoenix are ranked 1047th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Athenian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Evan Lucas, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Noah Olivier, who scored 12 points.

Athenian is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Bentley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Athenian will square off against the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bentley, they will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Valley Christian is out to stop a eight-game streak of losses at home.
