Baseball Recap: Coral Gables Gets the Win

With a playoff win on the line, Coral Gables rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Ferguson Falcons, sneaking past 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.

Denzel Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Coral Gables is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Coral Gables' victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gabriel Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with one run. That's the most hits Martinez has posted since back in March.

Coral Gables' record is now 14-10. As for Ferguson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

As of now, neither Coral Gables nor Ferguson have any future games scheduled.
