Basketball Recap: Washington County Beats Holmes for Their Third Straight Victory

Washington County had won two straight games and Ke'Myia Young did her part to make it three on Friday. The Washington County Panthers secured a 50-45 W over the Holmes Aces thanks in part to Young, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten boards. Her evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Carter, who posted 14 points and six steals. Carter is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Washington County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Holmes, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington County will challenge Perquimans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Perquimans will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Washington County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Holmes, they will square off against Pasquotank County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Someone's luck will take a turn for the better: Holmes has lost four straight at home (dating back to last season), while Pasquotank County has lost five on the road.
