Recap: St. John's Prep Red Storm vs. St. Francis Red Raiders

The St. John's Prep Red Storm had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 61-53 win over St. Francis on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given St. John's Prep's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 580th, while St. Francis is ranked 245th).

St. Francis' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Neely, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds. The contest was Neely's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leyton Roberts, who scored 14 points.

St. John's Prep's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for St. Francis, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. John's Prep will take on Moore Catholic at 1:00 p.m. on January 7th. Moore Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 277 points over their last four matchups. St. Francis and St. Mary's will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully St. Mary's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Saturday.
