Softball Recap: Atascadero Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mt. Whitney, Atascadero was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Lemoore Tigers 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Greyhounds have posted since February 28th.

Atascadero got a big performance out of Brooklyn Martin, who scored a run while going 3-for-5. Martin also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Haidyn Cooks was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Atascadero was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .323 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Atascadero's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Lemoore, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15-1.

Coming up, Atascadero will welcome Pioneer Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Greyhounds are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lemoore, they will head out to take on Tulare Western at 4:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season.
