Baseball Recap: Athens Drive Comes Up Short

Athens Drive and Pinecrest squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Athens Drive had to settle for second. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. Considering the last time the Jaguars couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Athens Drive got a good showing from Luke Haltom, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest hits Haltom has allowed since back in March.

Athens Drive's loss dropped their record down to 14-13. As for Pinecrest, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

Athens Drive does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pinecrest, they will square off against Gray's Creek on Friday. The last three games the Bears have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
