Basketball Recap: Jaleik Brifil's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Okeechobee over Jensen Beach

Okeechobee was the 42-36 winner over Jensen Beach when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Okeechobee Brahmans fell to the Jensen Beach Falcons 52-47. The Brahmans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Okeechobee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaleik Brifil, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The dominant performance gave Brifil a new career-high in points. Chaynaya'Ah Phillips was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 13 points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Okeechobee smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Jensen Beach's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lincoln Campo led the charge by putting up 14 points in addition to five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Cordell Wilkins, who posted 15 points and three steals.

Okeechobee's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Jensen Beach, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-6.

Okeechobee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-50 defeat against Centennial on the 16th. As for Jensen Beach, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-25 win against Lincoln Park Academy on the 16th.
