Soccer Recap: Bellaire Takes a Loss

If Bellaire was feeling good fresh off their 7-0 takedown of Wisdom two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bellaire Cardinals lost 5-1 to the Lake Creek Lions on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Lions are ranked 79th).

Bellaire's goal came courtesy of Ahava Babajanov, who's now up to 17 this season.

Bellaire's defeat dropped their record down to 14-7. As for Lake Creek, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-4-1.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Bellaire take on Cy-Fair at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bellaire will need to watch out since Cy-Fair has now posted at least four goals in their last three games. As for Lake Creek, they will challenge West Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Creek knows how to get goals on the board -- the team has finished with four goals or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully West Fork likes a good challenge.
