Soccer Game Preview: Vintage vs. Mt. Diablo

The Vintage Crushers will square off against the Mt. Diablo Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Vintage is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.

Vintage will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal back in December of 2024, then bounced right back against Sonoma Valley two weeks ago. Vintage blew past Sonoma Valley 4-1. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

Vintage hit Sonoma Valley with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from James Stuart (2), Jaden Jaramillo, and Henry Drozdowicz.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mt. Diablo's offense. They lost 3-0 to Alameda on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 506th, while the Hornets are ranked 189th).

Vintage is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four games. As for Mt. Diablo, they now have a losing record at 3-4-1.

Everything went Vintage's way against Mt. Diablo in their previous meeting back in December of 2016, as Vintage made off with a 3-0 victory. Does Vintage have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Diablo turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
