Recap: Mitchell Mustangs vs. Balboa School
It was a good run, but the Mitchell Mustangs unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They took a serious blow against Balboa School, falling 99-47. Mitchell was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 79-31.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Connor Peterson, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Thomas, who scored four points.
Balboa School was led to victory by Kendall Connor and Vito Albanese. Connor dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds, while Albanese went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Albanese has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamaal Phatty, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Mitchell now has a losing record at 10-11. As for Balboa School, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell and Wesley Chapel will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Averaging 75.4 so far this season, Wesley Chapel's high-powered offense has been in full-swing lately, so Mitchell better be ready for a challenge. As for Balboa School, they will head out on the road to square off against Victory Rock Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Victory Rock Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
