Soccer Game Preview: Burke vs. Papillion-LaVista South

Burke is 0-7 against Papillion-LaVista South since April of 2015 but things could change on Monday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Titans at 7:00 p.m. Burke has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Burke's tournament run continued when they took on Millard North on Saturday. The Bulldogs came up short against the Mustangs, falling 5-1. While losing is never fun, Burke can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska soccer rankings (they are ranked 61st, while Millard North are ranked fourth).

Meanwhile, it may have taken extra minutes to finish the job, but Papillion-LaVista South ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against Lexington by a score of 2-0. Papillion-LaVista South's winning goal came courtesy of Morgan Macke.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Papillion-LaVista South, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Burke might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Papillion-LaVista South in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
