Softball Recap: Utica Eisenhower Comes Up Short

Utica Eisenhower extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 6-10-1. They came up short against the St. Clair Saints, falling 15-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Saints this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-7 on Friday.

As for St. Clair, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 14-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.1 runs on average over those games.

For St. Clair's part, Gracie Pickelhaupt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Pickelhaupt has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, Maliyah Smith was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Madisyn Treat, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and three RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Utica Eisenhower will challenge Grosse Pointe North at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Clair, they will square off against Anchor Bay at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
