Basketball Game Preview: Naples Golden Eagles vs. South Fort Myers Wolfpack

The Naples Golden Eagles will square off against the South Fort Myers Wolfpack on Thursday. South Fort Myers took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Naples, who comes in off a win.

Naples is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Riverdale 70-6. The game marked the Golden Eagles' most dominant win of the season.

Meanwhile, South Fort Myers suffered their closest loss since December 17, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Golden Gate by a score of 43-41.

Naples will need focus on slowing down Mariah Thorne, one of several South Fort Myers players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 19 points. That was a full 46.3% of South Fort Myers' points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jer'Miya Jackson was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Naples pushed their record up to 9-15 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 16.6 points per game. As for South Fort Myers, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Naples came up short against South Fort Myers in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 50-44.
