Volleyball Game Preview: Casteel Colts vs. Highland Hawks

The Casteel Colts will face off against the Highland Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Casteel sitting on six straight victories and Highland on 12.

Casteel is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Arizona's top teams: Brophy College Prep, who was ranked fifth at the time (Casteel was ranked seventh). The Colts had just enough and edged out the Broncos 3-2.

Casteel took Brophy College Prep into a fifth set where they got it done with a six-point win. The final score came out to 25-27, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 15-9.

Casteel relied on the efforts of Will Schneiderman, who had 16 digs and eight assists, and Layton Bluth, who had 22 digs and two aces. That's the most digs Bluth has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a Battle of the Birds when Highland duked it out with O'Connor on Tuesday. The Hawks walked away with a 3-1 win over the Eagles.

Highland pushed their record up to 31-9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Casteel, their record is now 30-11-1.

Casteel beat Highland 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Colts repeat their success, or do the Hawks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
