Baseball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Fremont Silverwolves

For the second straight game, Layton will face off against Fremont. The Lancers will square off against the Silverwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Layton didn't have quite enough to beat Fremont and fell 2-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Silverwolves: they've now lost three in a row.

For Fremont's part, Tad Grange spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Grange has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Fremont saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cole Sanders, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Fremont has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Layton, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.
