Softball Recap: Cary Academy Wins Going Away Against Arendell Parrott Academy

Cary Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Arendell Parrott Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Chargers were the clear victors by a 14-5 margin over the Patriots on Thursday. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by nine runs or more this season.

Mirella DiGiulio made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. She also tossed six walks, marking her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games she's played.

In other batting news, Anika Kadumpalli was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Jennah Farris was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Cary Academy's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Arendell Parrott Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Cary Academy will welcome Thales Academy Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.38 runs per game on average), something the Chargers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Arendell Parrott Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on Pungo Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
