The Goodpasture Christian Cougars will take on the Christian Academy of Knoxville Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Goodpasture Christian's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They breezed past Hunters Lane to the tune of 56-0. That 56 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Goodpasture Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Angell, who threw for 126 yards and a pair of TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing. The dominant performance also gave Angell a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Another player making a difference was John Slagle, who rushed for 12 yards and one score.
Goodpasture Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Caleb Reed, Tanner Head, and Heath Vinnett picked up one apiece. Head got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after only seven points in their last game, Christian Academy of Knoxville made sure to put some points up on the board against Lakeway Christian Academy on Thursday. The Warriors put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 33-8 victory. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Christian Academy of Knoxville's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. Jeremiah Wilson refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.
Goodpasture Christian's record is now 7-3. As for Christian Academy of Knoxville, their record now sits at 6-4.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Goodpasture Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 154.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Christian Academy of Knoxville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 201.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Goodpasture Christian didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Christian Academy of Knoxville in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, but they still walked away with a 20-16 victory.
