Basketball Recap: Salt Lake Academy Starts Season with Win Against Intermountain Christian

Salt Lake Academy took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They snuck past the Intermountain Christian Lions with a 60-54 win. This was payback for the Griffins, who suffered a 61-44 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Among those leading the charge was Elijah Johnson, who went 8-for-14 en route to 21 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Brock, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards.

Intermountain Christian's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Smith, who posted 20 points and eight steals. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Wanner, who earned 14 points and six rebounds.

Salt Lake Academy has already played their next matchup, a 73-26 defeat against North Sanpete on the 19th. As for Intermountain Christian, they will take on Beaver at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
