Baseball Recap: Westside Drops Season-High Score on Dreher

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westside). They came out on top against the Dreher Blue Devils by a score of 7-3 on Sunday. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly four runs.

Caleb Christian tossed a big game, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jacob Holmes was incredible, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Milford, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Westside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive matches.

Westside's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Dreher, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Westside will be playing in front of their home fans against Blue Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on March 10th. Westside's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Blue Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dreher, they will head out on the road to square off against Lancaster at 6:30 p.m. on March 11th.
