Softball Recap: Ravenna Comes Up Short

If Ravenna was riding high fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Woodridge on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ravens came up short against the Springfield Spartans on Wednesday, falling 9-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Ravens of the 15-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Ravenna saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shyanna Dillbeck, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Ravenna's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Springfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Ravenna is set to take on their familiar foe Cloverleaf at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Springfield will face off against rival Field at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Spartans are on a four-game streak of home wins, the Falcons a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
