Adding to the longest winning streak in Southern Connecticut Division I - West this week, Fairfield Prep beat West Haven 29-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Xavier took down St. Paul Catholic 62-19 last week, the largest margin of any game. Ricky Verre in the win.
Shelton's dynamic duo of Mark Piccirillo and Michael Pingree proved to be unstoppable against Derby, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Piccirillo threw for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns and Pingree had 87 yards receiving. Kyle Drost helped Shelton's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 61 yards.
Colton Smith was a beast in the backfield as Fairfield Prep defeated the Blue Devils.
Smith provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Tom Shea's team topped West Haven. He completed 2 passes for 30 yards and also ran for 281 yards.
Amity Regional's David Ryan and Benjamin Feola have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-3 quarterback Ryan has thrown for 2,347 yards this season, while Feola has 55 catches for 849 yards. Smith from the Jesuits leads the league in rushing with 1,382 yards.
So far this year, Piccirillo has thrown for 1,888 yards with 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
Fairfield Prep made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,250 from 1,554. The improvement was the result of a 29-20 victory over Ed McCarthy's team last week.
