Baseball Game Preview: Suncoast Chargers vs. Nease Panthers

The Suncoast Chargers will head out to challenge the Nease Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Suncoast will be strutting in after a win while Nease will be coming in after a loss.

Suncoast's hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Tuesday, when they got past Tocoi Creek's usually-dominant pitching crew. Suncoast came out on top against Tocoi Creek by a score of 10-5.

Charlie Straub looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, John Cimbella was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Thomas Pastore, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meanwhile, Nease fell victim to Chiles and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They lost 10-0 to the Timberwolves.

Suncoast's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Nease, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.
