Volleyball Recap: Gilbert Beats Airport for Their Third Straight Win

Gilbert waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Airport Eagles as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Gilbert was especially dominant in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-19, 25-18.

Gilbert found their leader in freshman Abigail Widmann, who had 13 digs and two assists.

Gilbert was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups.

Gilbert's record now sits at 13-8. As for Airport, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Gilbert will welcome Gray Collegiate Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Airport has already played their next contest (against Wagener-Salley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
