Volleyball Recap: Meridian Mustangs vs. Cross County Cougars
Meridian lost against Cross County back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mustangs came up short against the Cougars, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Mustangs have suffered against the Cougars since October 15, 2020.
The final score came out to 25-14, 25-17, 25-13.
Meridian's offense was headlined by Jaycee Schwisow and Jetta Stewart, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Olivia Schafer and her 15 assists. Kenzie Kumpf controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
Cross County found their leader in sophomore Ella Cramer, who had 11 digs and four assists. Eastyn David also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.
Meridian has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Cross County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-8.
Meridian has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against McCool Junction on the 18th. Hopefully Cross County paid attention to the Mustangs' match: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Mustangs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
