Recap: Torrey Pines Falcons vs. Sage Creek Bobcats
The Torrey Pines Falcons won the last time they faced the Sage Creek Bobcats, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Torrey Pines came out on top against Sage Creek by a score of 66-53. Given Torrey Pines' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Sage Creek is ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Torrey Pines' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cody Shen, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Shen pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Matin Madadkar, who scored 18 points along with six assists and three steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for Torrey Pines and bumps their season record up to 15-5. As for Sage Creek, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Torrey Pines will take on La Costa Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. La Costa Canyon is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. As for Sage Creek, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against San Dieguito Academy at 7:00 p.m. San Dieguito Academy has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 20.
