Preview: Gulliver Prep Raiders vs. Pine Crest Panthers
The Gulliver Prep Raiders and the Pine Crest Panthers will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
Last Saturday, Gulliver Prep came up short against Mater Lakes Academy and fell 48-41.
Despite the loss, Gulliver Prep had strong showings from Mikayla Brown, who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and two steals, and Caitlen Dauphin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 25 rebounds. That was a full 46.3% of Gulliver Prep's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Allison Podvin was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, Pine Crest beat Palmer Trinity 55-46 on Thursday. 55 seems to be a good number for Pine Crest as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Gulliver Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Pine Crest, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.
Gulliver Prep was dealt a bruising 51-24 loss at the hands of Pine Crest in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Gulliver Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
