Basketball Recap: Dr. Phillips Beats Leflore for Their Fifth Straight Win

Dr. Phillips waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 73-65 victory over the LeFlore Rattlers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Panthers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 207th in Florida, while the Rattlers are ranked 49th in Alabama).

Dr. Phillips has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for LeFlore, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dr. Phillips will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, 2025. One thing working in Dr. Phillips' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests. LeFlore will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against Hillcrest at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. LeFlore is facing Hillcrest at the right time seeing as Hillcrest is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
