Recap: Wicomico Indians vs. Decatur Seahawks
The Wicomico Indians can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They blew past Decatur 67-24 on the road. Winning may never get old, but Wicomico sure is getting used to it with their 12th in a row.
Wicomico was led to victory by Gabrielle Corbin and Se'Lah Foreman. Corbin dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Foreman scored 27 points along with six steals. Foreman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carlisa Johnson, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Decatur's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jozlyn Tyre, who scored five points along with five rebounds. Lila Gunther was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Wicomico pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34 points. As for Decatur, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wicomico will take on Queen Anne's County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Wicomico knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Queen Anne's County likes a good challenge. As for Decatur, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Kent Island at 6:00 p.m. Kent Island will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Decatur surely won't give up without a fight.
