Recap: Heartland Christian Saints vs. Calvary Christian EAGLES
It was a good run, but the Heartland Christian Saints unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Calvary Christian by a score of 42-39. Heartland Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Calvary Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Heartland Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Reagan Clemens, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Sawyer Koffer, who scored 11 points.
Leading Calvary Christian to victory were Josiah Obando and Tha Lian. Obando scored nine points along with ten rebounds, while Lian scored 18 points along with five assists. That's the first time this season that Lian scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Pero, who scored nine points.
Heartland Christian's loss dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Calvary Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Heartland Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Gospel Haven Academy at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. Gospel Haven Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 665th in Ohio, while Heartland Christian is ranked 271st in Indiana). As for Calvary Christian, they will take on Heartland Christian at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
