Recap: Turlock Christian Eagles vs. Big Valley Christian Lions
The Turlock Christian Eagles pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They lost to Big Valley Christian on the road by a decisive 76-57 margin. While losing is never fun, Turlock Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1240th, while Big Valley Christian is ranked 593rd).
Turlock Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Raphael Babba, who scored 22 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Babba also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Ben Bylsma, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Big Valley Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cohen Boone led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Titus Boone was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Turlock Christian and nudges their season record down to 5-13. As for Big Valley Christian, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-4.
Turlock Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against Stone Ridge Christian at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday. Stone Ridge Christian is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. As for Big Valley Christian, they will face off against Millennium at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Millennium focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
