Softball Recap: Pine Island Comes Up Short

Pine Island suffered their closest defeat since April 25, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Cannon Falls Bombers by a score of 7-5. The loss continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Bombers: they've now lost five in a row.

Pine Island saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ruby Severson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Teagan Barnett also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Pine Island's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Cannon Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.

Coming up, Pine Island will host Kasson-Mantorville at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Cannon Falls, they will venture away from home to square off against Tri-City United [Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center] at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
