Basketball Recap: Garfield Takes a Loss

Garfield has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 71-43 loss at the hands of the LaBrae Vikings. The G-Men were down 56-32 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Garfield lost on Friday, don't look at Cade Rock. Despite the final result, he posted eight points and eight boards. Rock has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Garet Warnick also deserves some recognition as he pulled down his first board of the season.

Even though they lost, Garfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Garfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-3. As for LaBrae, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Garfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-42 loss against Crestwood on the 18th. As for LaBrae, they will head out to face off against Newton Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. LaBrae will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
