Softball Game Preview: Dodson Panthers vs. Sicily Island Tigers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Dodson Panthers challenge Sicily Island Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Dodson and 29 for Sicily Island dating back to last season.

On Thursday, Dodson came up short against Ringgold and fell 16-12.

Zoey Goss and Olivia Underwood stepped up to the plate in a big way. Goss scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4, while Underwood scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave Underwood a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Kaylyn Nugent, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Even though they lost, Dodson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ringgold only posted an OBP of .500.

Meanwhile, Sicily Island lost 21-4 to Peabody on Wednesday.

Dodson's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Sicily Island, their loss dropped their record down to 0-18.

Everything went Dodson's way against Sicily Island when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Dodson made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dodson since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
