Basketball Recap: Lakes International Language Academy Comes Up Short

Lakes International Language Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 24th straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Roosevelt Teddies and fell 98-51. Lakes International Language Academy lost against Roosevelt in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 79-74 score last time.

Roosevelt was led to victory by Izaiah Freeman and Steven Hunter. Freeman dropped a double-double with 25 points and 16 rebounds, while Hunter went 11-for-21 en route to 26 points along with five assists and five steals. That's the most steals Hunter has posted since back in January. Obie E Esparza was another key player, going 8-for-14 to rack up 16 points and eight boards.

Lakes International Language Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-22. As for Roosevelt, they pushed their record up to 15-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home.

Lakes International Language Academy has already played their next match (against West Lutheran), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Roosevelt, they will challenge North Community at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. North Community knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 contests -- so hopefully Roosevelt likes a good challenge.
