Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jahnard Young and Nicholas Milfort Jr Lead Piper to Victory

Piper won the last time they faced Fort Lauderdale and things went their way on Friday too. The Bengals were the clear victors by a 38-17 margin over the Flying L's. The result was nothing new for the Bengals, who have now won three matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Nicholas Milfort Jr and Jahnard Young. Milfort Jr rushed for 115 yards and one touchdown while Young rushed for 75 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Those 115 rushing yards gave Milfort Jr a new career-high.

Piper was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 245 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Piper, racking up 14 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Alex Gammage, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Piper has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 30.8 points over those games. As for Fort Lauderdale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Piper will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. As for Fort Lauderdale, they will challenge McArthur at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs' defense has only allowed 13.2 points per game this season, so the Flying L's offense will have their work cut out for them.
