Basketball Recap: St. Mary's Skates Past Marcos De Niza with Ease

St. Mary won the last time they faced Marcos de Niza and things went their way on Tuesday too. The St. Mary's Knights blew past the Marcos de Niza Padres 46-15. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.

It was another big night for Gwen Carter, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points. Her evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Bryant, who posted three points along with five rebounds and four steals.

St. Mary's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Marcos de Niza, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-17.

St. Mary's and Marcos de Niza could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. St. Mary's (ranked 153rd) will meet Sunnyslope (ranked 16th) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Marcos de Niza will take on Mesquite at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday down 262 places (265 vs. 3).
