Softball Recap: Princeton Comes Up Short

Princeton dropped their record down to 9-8 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 21-2 to the Bunn Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 back in March.

Princeton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madison Mitchell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Bunn, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by nine runs or more this season.

On Bunn's side, Emily Baez made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Baez was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Madeline Bryson was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Payton Wood, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Princeton will challenge Beddingfield at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bunn, they will be playing at home against Wake Prep Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
